ACF Fiorentina vs Atalanta BC

A late own goal denied Fiorentina a season-closing win as Atalanta snatched a 1-1 draw on Serie A's final matchday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Roberto Piccoli gave the hosts the lead in the 39th minute, finishing smartly near the first post after a neat combination with Marco Brescianini. Fiorentina held firm until the 82nd minute, when substitute Davide Zappacosta delivered a cross from the right that Pietro Comuzzo — under pressure while tracking Gianluca Scamacca — diverted into his own net, handing Atalanta an equalizer they barely deserved. The result leaves Fiorentina in 14th on 42 points, a respectable finish to a campaign that had flirted with relegation danger. Atalanta wrap up 7th on 59 points, securing European football next season — a solid outcome, even if it falls short of their loftier early-season ambitions.
