Match Preview

Borussia Dortmund host Paderborn at Signal Iduna Park in a fixture that says plenty about where each club stands right now. Under new coach Niko Kovač, Dortmund sit in the top half of the table after an unbeaten start and are chasing more consistency after finishing well behind champions Bayern Munich last season. Paderborn, meanwhile, are back in the Bundesliga for the first time in six years after edging Wolfsburg in the promotion play-off, and are still finding their feet in the top flight. Dortmund opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Hamburger SV and go into this one buoyed by Serhou Guirassy, who scored 26 goals last season, and Felix Nmecha, recently rewarded with a contract through 2030. Paderborn, guided by first-time top-flight coach Ralf Kettemann, lean on midfielder Laurin Curda, whose goals fueled their promotion run, and club-record signing Gabriel Vidović. The sides haven't met since May 2020, when Dortmund won 6-1. Our prediction: 3-0
