Brighton & Hove Albion vs AS Roma

Brighton put on a polished preseason display at the American Express Stadium, brushing aside AS Roma with a comfortable 3-0 win. The Seagulls were sharp from the start, dominating possession and giving the Italian side little room to settle, and the result will have delighted the home faithful ahead of the new season. Georginio Rutter got things moving in the 29th minute, finishing off a spell of sustained Brighton pressure to make it 1-0. Yasin Ayari then took over, doubling the lead just before the break in the 39th minute and adding a third early in the second half in the 49th to complete his brace. There were no red cards or penalties, but Roma made a flurry of changes at the interval and beyond as they tried to change the tempo, without much success. For Brighton, it was exactly the kind of efficient, confident performance manager will want heading into the new campaign. AS Roma, by contrast, struggled to respond after falling behind and will have plenty to work on before their season gets underway in earnest.
