CD Nacional vs FC Alverca

Alverca picked up their first league win of the season in convincing fashion, beating Nacional 3-1 away in Funchal. The result snapped their winless start and piled more misery on the home side, who are now stuck in a troubling run of form. The visitors did the damage in a devastating first-half spell. Chissumba broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, and Dawda Camara turned the game into a rout with a quickfire double in the 36th and 42nd minutes. Nacional pulled one back through Matchoi Djaló in the 81st minute, but it was little more than a consolation as Alverca saw out the win comfortably. For Alverca, the three points lift them to 10th place on five points, a much-needed boost after a slow start to the campaign. It's a far grimmer picture for Nacional, who suffered a fourth straight defeat, their first match under new coach Alexandre Santos, leaving them 13th on four points and still searching for answers.
