Match Report
Egypt U20 and Algeria U20 cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw at the National Teams Centre in Cairo on Tuesday, wrapping up a two-match friendly series between the North African rivals.
Coach Wael Riad named a reshuffled starting lineup featuring goalkeeper Omar Abdel Aziz, with Mahmoud Salah and Mohamed Haitham leading the attack. Neither side could find a breakthrough, though, as defences came out firmly on top after the two teams had shared four goals in a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first meeting on March 28.
The cagey encounter offered Rezik Nedir's Algeria a chance to tighten up at the back after conceding twice in that first leg, while Egypt's midfield duo of Mohamed Atef and Bilal Atia kept things tidy without creating clear-cut chances.
Both sides will now turn their attention to the upcoming African U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the real stakes begin. Two draws from two friendlies suggest there is little to separate these teams heading into competitive action.
