Match Report

FC Utrecht signed off their home Eredivisie campaign in style, beating Fortuna Sittard 2-0 at Stadion Galgenwaard. The night belonged to Gjivai Zechiël, who delivered a masterclass in creativity and walked away with the Player of the Match award after a brilliant double assist. Dani de Wit broke the deadlock on 39 minutes, converting a slick ball from Zechiël. The tie was put beyond doubt in the 65th minute by David Min — remarkably, just two minutes after stepping off the bench to replace Sébastien Haller — with Zechiël once again the architect. No red cards or penalties: just clinical, dominant football from the hosts, who outshot Sittard 18 to 13. The three points give Utrecht a timely boost as they chase the European play-off spots in the closing stretch of the season, while Fortuna Sittard, already safe for another year in the Eredivisie, had little to play for — and it showed.
