Galatasaray S.K. vs Kocaelispor

Galatasaray edged past Kocaelispor 1-0 in a tense Süper Lig clash at Rams Park, needing a moment of individual quality from an unlikely source to settle a match that had frustrated the hosts for long stretches. The breakthrough came in the 71st minute when defender Abdülkerim Bardakcı drove forward and finished from outside the box after a pass from Torreira. It capped an evening full of near-misses: Kocaelispor thought they'd taken the lead through Deniz Gül around the quarter-hour mark, only for VAR to chalk it off for a foul on the goalkeeper. Both sides also rattled the woodwork multiple times, with Deniz Gül, Agyei, Sallai and Sara all denied by the frame of the goal, while referees waved away penalty appeals late on. Yellow cards were shown on both sides, but no one saw red. For Galatasaray, it was a hard-fought three points that keeps them firmly in the title picture despite a stretched squad. Kocaelispor, meanwhile, leave empty-handed but with credit for testing the champions, having arrived in good recent form.
