Golden Arrows vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns snatched a dramatic 2-1 win away at Golden Arrows, needing a stoppage-heavy finish to see off a stubborn home side at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium. It capped a tense week between the two clubs, coming just days after they met in an MTN8 semi-final at the same ground. Siyanda Ndlovu put the visitors ahead early, finishing from close range in the 14th minute to give Sundowns control for long spells. Golden Arrows refused to fold, though, and drew level in the 76th minute through Junior Dion, who was set up by Philani Khumalo. The equalizer looked set to hold until Teboho Mokoena struck in the 88th minute to restore the lead for good. Yellow cards for Iqraam Rayners and Angelo Van Rooi added late spice, but there were no red cards or penalties in a game that was close on the numbers, with Sundowns edging possession and box entries. For Mamelodi Sundowns, it's a statement league double over a side they'd already beaten in cup competition just a week earlier, underlining their current edge in this rivalry. For Golden Arrows, the fight-back offers some encouragement, but conceding a late winner at home will sting as they look to regroup.
