Rangers vs St. Mirren

Rangers put on a dominant display at Ibrox, brushing aside St Mirren 5-1 in their League Cup last-16 tie. The home side raced into control early and never let go, finishing with 20 shots to St Mirren's 8 and 56% possession as the scoreline reflected total command from start to finish. Ryan Don Naderi opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and Vanja Dragojevic doubled the lead just before the half-hour at 18'. Chris Mochrie pulled one back for the visitors in the 30th minute, but it only briefly slowed Rangers down. After the break, Djeidi Gassama (52') and James Penrice (54') struck in quick succession, before substitute Ross McCausland capped the rout in the 74th minute. Yellow cards were shown to Marcus Fraser, Emmanuel Fernandez, and McCausland along the way. It's a statement win for Rangers as they progress comfortably into the next round with plenty of attacking options firing. For St Mirren, it's a tough night to move past, though Mochrie's goal offers a small positive as they regroup and refocus on their league campaign.
