RB Leipzig made the perfect start to the new season, brushing aside Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 at home in a lopsided Matchday 1 opener. The standout moment belonged to Rocco Reitz, who struck against his former club just weeks after leaving Gladbach for Leipzig in a summer transfer. Ridle Baku broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, set up by Tidiam Gomis, before Antonio Nusa doubled the lead in the 49th, again assisted by Gomis. Reitz wrapped things up in the 66th minute, finishing off a Christopher Nkunku pass. Nusa picked up a yellow card soon after for a foul on Daiki Hashioka, who was forced off injured.
