River Plate vs Fénix

Fenix picked up a gritty 1-0 win away to River Plate in Round 18 of the Uruguayan Segunda Division, and the decisive moment came early. Sebastian Guerrero broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, giving the visitors a lead they would defend all afternoon. From there it was backs-to-the-wall for Fenix, especially after the 81st minute, when Guido Viglino was sent off with a straight red card, leaving his side a man down. Despite that, they held firm and did not concede again, seeing out the final ten minutes with ten men. It is a tough result for River Plate, unable to find an equalizer even with opponents down to ten men for the closing stretch at home. For Fenix, it is a hard-earned three points on the road, extending a run in which their recent meetings with River Plate have produced winners rather than draws.
