Sion vs AFC Ajax

Ajax pulled off a thrilling comeback away at Stade de Tourbillon, turning a first-half deficit into a 4-2 win over Sion in their Conference League qualifying clash. The Swiss side started brightly and looked set to cause an upset before Ajax's class showed in the second half. Franck Surdez gave Sion the lead in the 34th minute, finishing off a Ali Kabacalman assist. Ajax responded after the break as Julian Brandt curled home a stunner in the 53rd minute, before Marcos Leonardo headed in from a Gaaei cross to make it 2-1. Ilyas Chouaref converted a 71st-minute penalty to level things at 2-2, only for substitute Tolu Arokodare to restore Ajax's lead in the 74th minute. Davy Klaassen wrapped it up deep into stoppage time with a composed chip. For Ajax, the win extends an impressive unbeaten run and hands them a strong platform heading into the second leg. Sion, despite the defeat, showed real quality in patches and will need a big result at the Johan Cruijff ArenA to keep their European ambitions alive.
