Neftekhimik vs Volga Ulyanovsk

A scrappy but entertaining affair in Nizhnekamsk — Neftekhimik led at the break but Volga Ulyanovsk hit back in the second half to take a point in Round 33 of the FNL. Dmitry Kamenshchikov put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes, only for Neftekhimik to turn the game around with two goals in quick succession: Platon Platonov equalised on 30 minutes and Konstantin Shiltsov made it 2-1 just two minutes later. That halftime lead didn't hold, though. Vladislav Yakovlev levelled for Volga in the 65th minute to rescue a share of the spoils. Three yellow cards were shown — Igor Gershun (62'), Alexander Kakhidze (70'), and Kamil Ibragimov (73') — but no red cards. The draw takes Neftekhimik to 43 points in 10th place, a comfortable mid-table finish. Volga Ulyanovsk sit 14th on 37 points with their FNL status secure, and both clubs can plan for next season without any relegation concerns.
