Match Report

São Paulo finally snapped a painful run without a win in the Brasileirão, edging Bragantino 2-1 at the Morumbis in a game turned by an early VAR review. Luciano got things going before the ten-minute mark, sending home a penalty after the referee reviewed the play and judged Pedro Henrique's challenge on him in the box a foul. Right before halftime, Gustavo Santana pounced on a loose ball from a corner kick to make it 2-0, netting his first goal for the club's professional squad. Bragantino pulled one back in the second half through Fernando, but couldn't find a way past São Paulo for an equalizer. The result matters plenty for São Paulo, who finally ended a ten-match winless streak in the league and climbed to 11th place with 30 points. Bragantino, despite the setback, stays in 8th with 35 points, still chasing a top-six finish and a shot at Libertadores qualification.
