Uruguay U20 vs Paraguay U20
Match Report
Diego Forlán's first match in charge of Uruguay's under-20 team ended goalless, with the hosts held to a 0-0 draw by Paraguay in a closed-doors friendly at the Complejo Celeste in Montevideo — a quiet start for a coach who also leads the senior side.
No goals or cards were reported, and both goalkeepers had little to do as clear chances stayed rare. Forlán gave minutes to newcomers such as center-back Facundo Abreu, son of former striker Sebastián Abreu, along with Valentino Wurth, Yuri Oyarzo and Julio Daguer. Paraguay, led by Antolín Alcaráz, used the trip to rotate players of their own.
The result changes little by itself; a rematch follows Thursday, also in Montevideo. For Uruguay, it's a building block toward the South American Games in Santa Fe and the 2027 U20 Championship, while Paraguay is using the same window to prepare for those same competitions.
