Valencia CF vs RC Celta de Vigo

Valencia and Celta Vigo shared the points in a scoreless draw at Mestalla, with 43,684 fans watching a tight, chance-filled affair that never quite produced a breakthrough. Arnaut Danjuma had Valencia's best early sight of goal, while Marcos Alonso and A. Febas tested the hosts for Celta. The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock was a late Valencia corner that briefly raised the tension before fizzling out. There were no goals, but plenty of cautions to show for the effort. Stole Dimitrievski and Justin De Haas picked up yellow cards for Valencia, while Celta saw Sergio Carreira, Javi Rueda and Ionut Radu booked. Valencia made an early switch at the break, sending on Mouctar Diakhaby for De Haas, and later turned to Umar Sadiq and Aliou Dieng for fresh legs up front. Celta responded by throwing on Iago Aspas, Williot Swedberg and Pablo Duran, but none could find a winner. Alonso was named man of the match for his defensive work. A point apiece leaves both sides still searching for their first win of the young season. Valencia will be encouraged by their defensive solidity but need more punch from Danjuma and company, while Celta Vigo showed control without conversion and will hope Aspas's introduction sparks more end product going forward.
