Match Report
Volga Ulyanovsk pulled off a gritty 1-0 home win over promotion-chasing Spartak Kostroma at Trud Stadium, with Kirill Folmer's first-half strike proving the difference. The midfielder found the net on 33 minutes to hand the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.
The second half turned into a card-happy affair as referee Aleksey Lapatukhin brandished four yellows in quick succession. Nikolai Tarasov, Vladislav Yakovlev, Kirill Chursin, and Vladislav Lyakh all went into the book within an eleven-minute spell as tempers frayed. Six minutes of added time kept Spartak's hopes alive, but Volga held firm.
The result lifts Volga to 13th on 30 points — a welcome boost after their defeat at Ufa last time out. For Spartak Kostroma, it marks a fifth straight match without a win, a worrying slide for a side sitting fourth and eyeing promotion.
